Three Ultimate Frisbee Champions Crowned in Historic US Open Sweep

A Weekend for the Record Books

The 2026 US Open Ultimate Frisbee Championships, held in Aurora, Colorado, delivered one for the history books. When the dust settled on Sunday, August 3rd, all three division titles had been claimed — and the results sent a clear message about who the teams to beat are heading into the rest of the club season. San Francisco Revolver and Ann Arbor Hybrid both pulled off back-to-back wins, while Washington Scandal took down defending champions San Francisco Fury to claim their second-ever US Open title.

Across all three divisions, last year's champions were in a position to once again win it all — and if they had, it would have marked the first time the US Open had back-to-back winners in all divisions simultaneously. Two of three managed to do it. The third division produced the tournament's biggest surprise.

Revolver Survives a Scare in the Men's Final

In a thrilling, back-and-forth contest that will go down as one of the best games of the year, San Francisco Revolver pulled off a stunning late comeback to defeat Seattle Sockeye and win the 2026 US Open. The game was a tight matchup, with changing leads and Seattle Sockeye taking the game to 14-12 before Revolver pulled off an exciting come-from-behind victory to claim their fifth US Open title.

Revolver accomplished this with a depleted offense, missing starting handlers Mac Hecht and Walker Frankenberg, and losing Nate Prior to injury during the first half. Raekwon Adkins, Nelson, and Hulsmeyer were the standouts on offense, with Revolver bouncing back from a rocky Friday that featured a defeat to Chicago Machine. Back-to-back wins are no new feat for Revolver, who previously won three consecutive years from 2013 to 2015.

Hybrid Dominates, Scandal Stuns

In the mixed division, Hybrid took the lead 2-0 and never looked back, winning over challenger New York XIST in dominant fashion. The US Open win — their third in three years — keeps them in the running to be the first team to win back-to-back Triple Crowns. Ann Arbor's consistency has been remarkable; Hybrid are looking to claim their third title in three years, having already pulled off back-to-back wins in 2024 and 2025.

The women's division told a different story. Washington DC Scandal put on a very complete showing from both their offense and defense, outplaying San Francisco Fury to win the 2026 US Open. Claire Trop (4G/2A/1D), Sami Smalling (4A), and Kira Flores (3G/2A) were the backbone of Scandal's offensive efficiency that proved to be the difference between the two teams. Scandal claimed a 15-10 victory over Fury, only giving up one break over the entire game, completing a perfect 6-0 record for the tournament with key wins over all the other top seeds, including Boston Brute Squad and Molly Brown.

What It All Means Going Forward

San Francisco Fury had been going for a three-peat, having previously won the US Open in 2013, 2015, 2024, and 2025, and were chasing their fifth title. Scandal's dominant performance shattered those hopes and reshuffled the power rankings in the women's division. The 15-10 final was Scandal's first victory in the teams' head-to-head series since the 2023 Pro Championships.

The US Open, co-hosted by USA Ultimate and Altitude Ultimate, is the first leg of the Triple Crown Tour — and for many top teams, it is the first opportunity of the season to test themselves against key matchups. With the season now firmly underway, Revolver, Hybrid, and Scandal have all announced themselves as the frontrunners in their respective divisions. Whether any of them can carry this momentum all the way to the National Championships remains the defining question of the 2026 club ultimate season.
