Dallas's iconic Deep Ellum entertainment district is rolling out an enhanced safety initiative after experiencing a notable uptick in crime throughout 2025. The new plan comes after their 2022 plan helped decrease crime, but they saw an uptick in 2025 , prompting district leaders to expand their approach beyond traditional policing methods.

The new plan now includes a Deep Ellum Community Engagement Program to connect with youth, expansion of their Eyes on Ellum camera network, and adding a second shift of eight officers . Deep Ellum Foundation Executive Director Stephanie Keller Hudiburg said Tuesday the plan includes creating the city's first entertainment permit, designed to require all businesses to follow the same operating rules .
