A Convicted Predator Still at Large

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has named Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender Alejandro Villegas as July 2026's Featured Fugitive. The designation puts a spotlight on one of the state's most pressing fugitive cases — a man with a documented history of preying on children who has now managed to evade authorities for months.

Alejandro Villegas, 32, from Fort Worth, has been wanted out of Tarrant County since January 2026 for a probation violation stemming from an original charge of sexual assault of a child. Additionally, in March 2026, a warrant was issued by the Fort Worth Police Department for Villegas' arrest for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements. That second warrant signals a man actively dodging the conditions that were meant to keep the public safe from him.

A Troubling Criminal History

In 2017, Villegas was arrested by the Arlington Police Department for robbery and subsequently received 36 months of probation. That early brush with the law apparently did little to deter him. In 2022, he was arrested by the Grand Prairie Police Department for sexual assault of a child following an incident with a 16-year-old girl. Villegas was later convicted of the crime and received 96 months of probation.

Villegas is 6 feet tall and weighs about 185 pounds, and has ties to Fort Worth, Arlington, and Dallas. His connections across multiple DFW-area cities make him a concern for a wide swath of North Texas communities — and complicate the search for his whereabouts.

A $6,000 Incentive for Tips

The reward for information leading to his arrest is increased to $6,000 during July if the tip is received this month. That's a meaningful incentive, and authorities are counting on the public to help close the net. Funded by the Governor's Public Safety Office, Texas Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards to any person who provides information that leads to the arrest of one of Texas' 10 Most Wanted Fugitives, Sex Offenders, or Criminal Illegal Immigrants.

To be eligible for cash rewards, tipsters must provide information to authorities using one of three methods: calling the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477), submitting a web tip through the DPS website, or submitting a Facebook tip by clicking the "SUBMIT A TIP" link. Tips submitted outside of these channels do not qualify for the reward.

The Bigger Picture in Texas

So far in 2026, DPS and other agencies have arrested 44 Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives, Sex Offenders, and Criminal Illegal Immigrants, including 32 sex offenders and eight gang members — with $61,500 in rewards being paid for tips that yielded arrests. Those numbers reflect how effective the public tip system can be when communities are engaged.

The Villegas case is a stark reminder that probation, while sometimes appropriate, is only as effective as the willingness of offenders to comply — and the vigilance of the public when they don't. With a $6,000 reward on the table and a multi-city search underway, DPS is hoping July becomes the month this particular fugitive runs out of places to hide.
