US Marshals Take Tate Brothers Into Custody

US Marshals arrested social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate in Miami on Saturday on an extradition request from the United Kingdom, following an investigation into sexual offenses reported by seven victims, according to the UK Crown Prosecution Service. The arrests mark a dramatic escalation in a years-long legal saga that has followed the brothers across continents — from Romania to Washington, D.C., and now into a Miami jail.

Andrew Tate faces 42 charges, including rape, human trafficking, indecent images of a child, and assault, according to the UK Crown Prosecution Service and Bedfordshire Police. Tristan Tate faces 17 charges, including sexual assault, rape, and trafficking. The Crown Prosecution Service said the brothers were charged in connection with sexual offenses involving four women that allegedly took place between July 2010 and August 2017.

A Case That Spans Multiple Countries and Years

The new charges were added onto previous charges brought by the Crown Prosecution Service after evidence was submitted by Bedfordshire Police. The latest round was brought after officials investigated reports made by four additional victims in the East England areas of Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. That brings the total number of alleged victims connected to UK charges to seven.

In Romania, where Andrew and Tristan Tate made their home for several years, they were charged in both 2023 and 2024 with human trafficking, sexual abuse, money laundering, and forming an organized criminal group. In December 2024, a Bucharest court ruled that the first case against the Tates and their two female associates couldn't proceed to trial because of multiple legal and procedural irregularities and sent it back to prosecutors — though the charges were not dropped. The brothers left Romania after Romanian authorities lifted travel restrictions on them, arriving in Florida in February 2025.

Defense Claims "Political Hit," Victims' Advocates Respond

In a statement released on social media after their arrest, attorney Joseph McBride, who represents the Tate brothers, claimed they were innocent and described the arrests as a "political hit," saying he was confident that "once a competent judge sees the facts... Andrew and Tristan Tate will walk free." McBride also claimed the brothers were being held in solitary confinement and noted they had been in Washington, D.C., earlier this month where they held political meetings.

Andrew Tate is also facing a civil suit in the UK being brought by four women who accuse him of rape. Matthew Jury, an attorney representing those four women, welcomed Tate's arrest, saying: "We do not yet know whether these new charges relate to the complaints made by my clients or by other women," but added that "any step that advances the proper administration of justice deserves to be welcomed."

Andrew Tate was previously a champion kickboxer and reality television star before becoming an influencer in the "manosphere," going into business with his brother Tristan. Advocates have warned against the pair's rising tide of influence among young boys and men. Andrew Tate is known for his aggressive speech about male dominance, female submission, and wealth — and at one point was suspended from major social media platforms.

The brothers are slated to make a court appearance in Florida next week , where the question of extradition to the United Kingdom will begin to take shape.
